House Hunting....

With the housing market being so cheap right now...Matt and I decided to buy a house!! We are so excited. We put an offer on one last week, but some one came in with a cash offer so we didnt get that one. Everything happens for a reason. And I'm kinda glad we didnt get that one. We went out with my cousin to look at houses this last weekend and we found 3 we really like. We put offers on all three of them. My cousin called me yesterday to tell me one of the banks really liked the offer we put in. We are just waiting for an acceptance in writing! Its a really cute house. There really isnt a front yard, but I dont think we would spend much time in the front anyways. Its a 3 bed/3 bath. For a foreclosure, it is perfect! The walls need some touch up paint, but we plan on painting the walls anyways. If we get the acceptance in writing I will post some pictures of it. So now we are spending our time packing. Its kinda crazy.

Okay...so I'm really bad at this....

I know...I know. I never have a weekly blog like I said I would. Things have just been really busy. That or there is nothing to write about.

So lets see...Matt is finishing up his spring semester at CSN. Only 4 more weeks! He really seems to enjoy his fire science class about arson. Political Science is a hard topic to discuss, especially since we have a new president. But Matt was lucky that he got a conservative teacher. Most of them are a bunch of liberals...ew!!

Karate is fun. We are getting ready for another testing in May. We also have another tournament coming up in June. We are really excited for the tournament. The demo team is practicing very hard. We have some really cool new moves in the routine. I'm a little nervous about some of them. It will be so cool though! You can see our previous demo on youtube. Just type in Team Martin Demo.

Matt and I are looking for a house! We are so excited. The prices right now are so good. The only downfall is that the backyards are soooo small. We want to get a German Shephard when we buy the house, but I would feel bad if he has a small yard to play in. I guess we could always take him on walks. Matt wants to name him Leonidas (like in the movie 300). I think it could be cute. (I'm going to call him Leo).

Okay...so I will think of more to write later. I'm actually at karate right now and I have to teach instructor class in a few and I need a lesson.

I think my demo team rocks!! They did such a great job! Here is a link to watch. One of the parents at our karate school filmed it for me...

Hi.

So this last month was way busy! The demo team at karate was preparing to compete in the January tournament. And they kicked butt! Most teams have been training in the same demo for years. Ours has only been practicing since November and we took 3rd! Yay! Go team. When I figure out how to post videos and pictures, I will put some up of the team. They did such a great job. I am so proud of them. Now we are taking a little break and will start training again in March for the June tournament. The June tournament is a lot bigger and more teams come out to compete. But I'm sure they will do just as good if not better! We have lots of work to do.

Matt and I always keep ourselves busy. Matt's new semester of school just started. He is taking a very interesting class about fire investigation. He is also taking political science. What a time to be taking that class! At least he has a conservative for an instructor! Yay! But of course there are the uneducated people that take the class. Hopefully they will leave the class with a different perspective.

I've just been keeping busy with the karate school. February is our buddy month and we are hoping to get a bunch of new students. But times are tough and no one really wants to sign up for extracirricular activities...hopefully things will start getting better. Hopefully they dont get worse.

The superbowl was exciting. It was a good game. My parents threw a superbowl party. Its kind of a tradition. They have one every year. Good food and good friends. Again...I need to learn how to post pictures. Hmm...

Well, I guess thats it for now. I will try my hardest to make this a weekly thing again. But we'll see how that goes.

Yeah...I know....

I know. I thought I would be better at this blog thing. I'll try to make it a Sunday ritual. Well, right now Matt is attempting to sleep so I should probably finish tomorrow. The keypad is kinda loud. :)

Another Week Gone By

Matt says..."busy". His week is always full of school and work. His AMR clinical was canceled on Saturday because of a strike. But he was able to do the clinical at Valley Hospital on Sunday. He is able to do IVs on the first try. Yay! I hate when they dont know how to do them. He saw another guy that has gangrene. That is awful. Matt says it is such a bad smell.

Wednesday night we had a professional photographer come into the karate school. We had a picture day for all of the students. It turned into picture night. It was crazy! We didnt think that many people would want to get their pictures done. But the whole school wanted to do them. We ended up leaving there really late. I felt bad for the little kids that got stuck there late, but there really wasnt anything I could do to speed up the photographer. He was really patient with everyone and took his time. He was an awesome photographer.

Friday night was our first acrobatic demo team practice. Our team is working really hard for the next tournament. I love how dedicated they are all becoming. We picked students that are really talented for our team. Of course we have to make exceptions for some students when they cant make a practice, but everyone has been so committed. After practice, Matt and I went to my parents house for dinner. Matt and my dad had a crab leg feast. I dont like seafood, neither does my mom or sister, so Matt and my dad had that all to themselves. They loved it.

Saturday was a day I dont think my sister or I will ever forget. We had a black belt testing. Amanda tested for her second degree black belt and I tested for my third degree! It was quite an event! First we had to run 4 miles. The rest was non-stop: 2 minutes of full power kicks, 2 minutes of hand techniques, one-steps, self defense, forms, grappling, weapons, then came sparring. We both had to spar a 4th degree black belt. We did two on one sparring. Amanda totally kicked butt. Amanda is the fighter out of the two of us. I am more of a forms person. After our testing ended, we got to go home to get ready for the awards ceremony. My legs felt like jello!! The awards ceremony was fun. I'll be sure to post pictures when I can.

Sunday morning, I could barely get out of bed! I still have to hold on to something to make it across the room. I have to make sure that I keep working out. A lot. Matt and I went to my cousin's for her birthday dinner. It was nice to see the family...especially little DJ. He is so cute. But he slept most of the time we were there. He is going to be the most spoiled baby ever! Everyone wants to hold him. I doubt he gets set down very much.

Well...I guess that was about it for the week. The big event for this next week will be seeing TWILIGHT!! I am so excited. My mom, sister and I are going to the midnight showing. I'm sure I will see it more than once. I am trying to convince Matt to see it once...
